Project Empowering Senior Citizens

Empowering Senior Citizens for a Better World

Why senior citizen?

In India, a country of over a billion people, one in every two elderly individuals suffer from loneliness. With the disintegration of the joint family system and the rise in the number of nuclear families, senior citizens in India often find themselves feeling alone, neglected and depressed even when they are living with their children and grandchildren. With a mission to empower every individual on this planet, we aim to spread joy and happiness in the lives of the elderly. Through our projects, we ensure that senior citizens can lead a normal, healthy and empowered life.

Facts and figures

  • Between 1950 to 2016, the population share of adults grew from 5.4% to 9%, which represents an almost six-fold increase from 20.3 million to more than 116 million.
  • Due to the patriarchal inheritance laws in India, widowed females have to face many societal and financial problems. In 2012 only 8% of Indian males aged 60 to 64 were widowed, compared with 35% of females in this age group. Among adults 80 and older, a majority of females, more than 60%, had been widowed, compared with just 27% of males
  • An estimated 83% of India’s working population is in the unorganized sector and therefore not entitled to receive any pension or retirement benefits in their old age.

Our projects

Fun for Senior Citizen

We organize outdoor picnics for the elderly. This way they can relive their youth, meet and interact with others and create new bonds and friendships.

Food for indigent senior citizens

We provide essential food items such as grains, cooking oil and more to the elderly. This reduces a huge financial burden from their lives.

Health check-up

We organize health camps for the elderly and provide medicines to patients suffering from critical conditions such as diabetes, heart problem, etc.

Old age homes

We support retirement homes across India and help them function properly by providing them with required items such as clothes, foods, equipment etc.
